November 2014, Keauhou, South Kona

Under the guidance of Kumu Keala Ching, Kumu Andrea and seven other kumu participated in a traditional 'uniki ceremony, honoring Laka, the goddess of hula, their lineages and respective kumu (Kumu Hula Darrell 'Ihi'ihilauakea Lupenui, Kumu Hula Raylene Ha'alele'a Kawaiae'a and Kumu Hula Keala Ching), and traditional hula protocol. The event was blessed by other distinguished kumu hula who came to witness the ceremony (see names below).

November 2013, Konea O Kukui, North Kohala

In this sacred, ancient valley in Keokea, Kumu Andrea, along with Kumu Hope Keawe and Kumu Leia Lawrence, received their first traditional 'uniki ceremony, under the guidance of Kumu Keala Ching. The ceremony included traditional protocol honoring Laka, many chants of invocation, reverence and dedication, and hulas to honor the late Kumu Raylene Ha'alele'a Kawaiaae'a, as well as Kumu Keala Ching. It was an auspicious and blessed day of prayer and thanksgiving.
